Ivan Hutchinson was born in a small mining town in the United Kingdom and has spent his entire life involved in either performing or creating music. He begun as an instrumentalist, learning the trumpet from the age of 5, playing in many of the local brass bands and orchestras. This led to a very long and successful career in one of the world's leading military music organisations, The Band of His Majesty's Royal Marines.
His Career in the Royal Marines has seen him travel all across the globe, performing in most of the world's most iconic venues as a soloist, including over thirty times in the Royal Albert Hall, London. He has performed for Royalty, Presidents & Prime Ministers, as well as a variety of World famous artists such as Kylie Minogue, Ed Sheeran, Gary Barlow, Alfie Boe and Shirley Bassie to name a few. He has been involved, either as a performer or producer for many of the U.Ks high profile National and International events, including three (Golden, Diamond & Platinum) Jubilee events, HM QEII 90th birthday celebrations, various Royal weddings, funerals and the recent Coronation of King Charles III. He finished his career as The Corps Bandmaster Royal Marines.
It was during this time that Ivan became very interested in composing and arrangeing and began to write music for the Royal Marines. Much of his music has been performed at high profile events as well as various TV and radio channels such as the BBC, ITV, and SKY.
Since 2012 Ivan has had a close collaboration with Two Steps From Hell composer, Thomas Bergersen. Ivan has arranged numerous compositions by Thomas for the Royal Marines Band and they continue to gain favourable comments for their authenticity.
Since retiring from the Royal Marines after a 34 year career, Ivan has began life as a freelance composer, arranger and producer. He has completed various projects including, private commissions, music advisor roles, and various writing projects. He has written music for the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo, The Royal Nova Scotia International Tattoo and The London International Band Week. He will continue his collaboration with Two Steps From Hell composer Thomas Bergersen, with the aim of his arrangements becoming available to a wider network of musical ensembles across the globe.
Ivan has had the great honour of producing various compositions for specific events over many years. 'Sesquicentennial' for the 150th Anniversary of the Royal Albert Hall, London. 'A Platinum Celebration' for HM QEII Platinum Jubillee. 'The King our Captain General' for His Majesty King Charles III.
Ivan has also written the music for three documentaries. 'The Story of the Unknown Warrior', 'The Blue Band' - History of the Royal Marines Band Service, and 'A Life of Dedication' - A Tribute to her late Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II.
